Measurement guide
Measure like a pro in 3 minutes.
Your numbers only need to be good enough to start. Your measurements are a starting point. Final sizes are confirmed by professional measurement before anything is ordered.
1 · Width: three measurements
Measure the width at the top, middle and bottom of the opening. Openings are rarely perfectly square — three numbers catch that.
2 · Height: three measurements
Same idea vertically: left, center and right.
3 · Keep the smallest of each
The smallest width and the smallest height are your working numbers. Keep the fractions: 35 1/2″ is better information than “about 36”.
4 · Tell us what you measured
Visible frame? Opening after removing trim? Block opening? Each is different — and “not sure” is a valid answer. The builder lets you say it, and the professional measurement resolves it. What matters is never forcing a wrong guess.
Phone tip: take a photo of each opening while you measure. In the builder you can attach it to the opening — it stays on your device and helps you keep track.
